Do our online engagements work?

Joining forces with Altometer Business Intelligence, we helped CFA’s education team evaluate what worked and what to do next when Covid-19 accelerated plans to deliver their traditionally face-to-face bushfire prevention programs online.

The Covid CFA rely on connection and community engagement to reinforce fire safety messages and the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements presented some large challenges. The CFA were quick to establish an online version of their popular Fire Safety Essential programs and delivered hundreds of sessions in 2020.  They wanted to know, “Should we continue delivering these programs online, if/when the pandemic is over?”

Working with researchers and engagement specialists, we co-produced an evaluative report for CFA about the effectiveness of their online engagement program delivery and provided strong recommendations about where they could continue to improve online delivery in years ahead.

Analysing data from program participation and the feedback from focus groups and in-depth issues, we were able to deliver a clear picture of the challenges, benefits and opportunities for CFA.  We gave thoughtful and well-evidenced recommendations and findings about the program and where its format, its internal practices and processes and its promotion were tweaked.
